Coating Tips for Your Next Residential Interior Paint Project
If you’re like us, you probably go over and over in your head the various colors and interior design schemes before settling on the final design. It’s an exhausting process. But, it doesn’t need to be. It can and should be fun and relatively headache-free! What follows are a few tips on settling on the right coating for your next residential interior paint project.

Color Selection
As overwhelming as color selection seems, come at this process from the perspective that you have one great advantage: you know what you like. Pay attention to various other interior designs and paint schemes. Make mental notes. You also already have your favorite colors, as well as color references from furniture and woodwork to floors and other furnishings. All of this stuff helps to narrow down the field of color, which, I admit, can seem quite endless.

Paint Type
After color selection, this is the most important aspect of painting. The best color scheme in the world is useless if the coating fails. The most important thing here is to make sure a professional does the job. From star to finish, every step must be carried out in meticulous, detail-oriented fashion. If a painter does his or her job right, then paint failure shouldn’t be an issue. And then you can really just concentrate on the color of your interior, and how it fits into the overall atmosphere of your home or rental property. Which is as it should be.

You will also want to look for low or zero-VOC paints. These are paints with little to no volatile organic compounds. Translation: it’s healthier for you and your family, and the environment. Be sure to investigate eco-friendly paints, of which there are an always-growing variety on the market.
